Greetings in Jesus!
I would like to share with you when the Lord stirred
my heart about wearing the head covering:
I was attending a carnal Christian church. One woman
started wearing a head covering. (Wow, out of all women in the church,
she was brave enough to do that!) She was a friend of mine, so I asked
her if she was in a skit for Sunday School and forgot to take off her
costume. :) She politely said no.
We didn't discuss again for weeks. Finally, I invited
her to coffee and we dug into scripture about the head covering. She
shared her story. Well, that was all it took for God to plant the seed!
After that, I was sure I was to wear it, but it took me another few
months to do it. At first, I only wore a bun cover on Sunday to church.
Not long after, I switched to a full 'scarf.' (now there were two of us
wearing the covering!) Soon, the Lord pressed on my heart that I need to
be wearing it all the time.
It has made such a difference in my life and marriage!
When I started wearing this outward reminder of being a submissive wife,
it changed the way I felt, my husband acted and other people around me
acted. It has been wonderful! My husband cherishes me more and I am more
willing to submit.
Of course, it isn't the covering that did it but my
broken, convicted heart convincing me that I need to be submissive to my
husband.
Not all reactions have been wonderful. I've had my
share of sneers and stares. I've gotten most of my grievances from women
my age. Maybe there is a conviction in their own hearts when they see me
obeying God's order!?
But I can honestly say, most young and old men have
been more polite to me. (Imagine, strangers even opening the door for me
while I'm out in public!) Older women seem to be more willing to come up
and start a conversation with me. It has been a great witnessing tool!
I love wearing the covering. I continue to grow more
in the wisdom and knowledge of our Lord Jesus when I read His Word and
do what it says.
It was a true step of obedience and I'm glad I took
it. I pray my testimony will be a blessing and an encouragement to you.
